Key Sights
Sea Lions
Sea lions are a common sight in Los Angeles and can often be seen basking in the sun on buoys, frolicking in the water, or cruising alongside boats. A harbor tour provides the perfect opportunity to observe them in their natural habitat (and get a cute picture or two in the process).
The Los Angeles Maritime Museum
Housed in the historic Municipal Ferry Building, the Los Angeles Maritime Museum offers exhibits that feature ship models, nautical instruments, and historical photographs. Visiting provides a fantastic opportunity to learn about the vital role the harbor has played in shaping the region’s economy and culture for decades!
Bird Species
Despite its bustling industrial activity, the Port of Los Angeles is a surprisingly vibrant habitat for a diverse array of bird life. Birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts alike can spot numerous species, including common gulls, terns, and brown pelicans. You might also observe various shorebirds foraging along the mudflats and rocky areas.
